Having been trading within the vehicle rental business for over 25 years, we are often asked the same questions by different client’s year-after-year. Here are a selection of the most popular questions asked and thus our answers to these questions. Of course if you can not find your question below, please feel free to contact us at anytime:

Q - What vehicle can I drive on my License?
A - If you have passed your driving test before 1st January 1997, you are entitled to drive up to and including 7.5tonne lorry. If you have passed your driving test after 1st January 1997, you can drive up to and including 3.5tonne vans only.

Q - Do Magnum supply Road Insurance for the full duration of hire?
A - Yes, we supply Fully Comprehensive Road Insurance for all vehicles up to and including 7.5tonne Lorries (except all Dropside vehicles). Damage excess will be required.

Q – Do Magnum vehicles meet the LEZ (London Emission Zone) requirements?
A – Yes, all of our rental fleet is compliant until October 2010 at the very least and no additional charge will be applicable.

Q - Can I hire a H.G.V. for Personal use?
A - 18t vehicles and above must be supplied on the Hirers own fully comprehensive insurance and a copy of the hirers ‘Goods Vehicle Operators License Certificate’ must be shown at time of hire.

Q - What documents do I require to hire a vehicle? A - You will require the following documents:
• Both parts of a Full UK Driving License. (Any endorsements, please contact branch)
• Two utility bills or bank/credit card statements.
• Method of payment up front via Credit/debit card.

Q - Is European use allowed with my vehicle? A - Unfortunately we currently do not allow vehicles to be used outside the UK mainland.

Q - What is the fuel status for my hired vehicle?
A - When a vehicle has been hired, it will be supplied to you with a full tank of DIESEL and thus will be expected to be returned back to us full. If the vehicle can not be refueled for any reason, we are able to refill upon receipt, but this will be charged to you at our commercial rate.

Q - Can I leave my own vehicle with Magnum once collecting my hired vehicle? A - Yes, we have secure off-road parking available at our Branches, although any vehicles and contents that are left on our premises are left entirely at the owners own risk.

Q - What methods of payment are accepted? A - If you are a regular user with us, we are happy to set up a relevant account for you. However if not, all major Credit/Debit cards accepted, except for ‘American Express’

Q - Are ‘tow bars’ fitted to Magnum vehicles?
A. Unfortunately No, We do not currently have vehicles on fleet with ‘tow bars’.

Q - Can I hire a vehicle for Saturday and Sunday only?
A. Yes, Vehicles can be hired at a special
weekend rate in which the hire would be covered until Monday morning 8am. We currently do not provide a collection or drop-off service for Sundays.

Q - Are ‘Magnums’ vehicles maintained?
A - Yes, all Vehicles are maintained to at least the manufacturer’s standard requirements and are therefore suitable for renting at the start of the rental period.

Q - Can I return my hired vehicle out of hours?
A - Unfortunately No, Vehicles must be returned within’ Magnums’ business hours of which are 7.00am to 6.00pm Mon-Friday and Saturday mornings 8.00am – 12.00 noon.

Q – Does the vehicle engine have to be running for the fridge to work?
A – No, all our fridge vans/box vehicles of 3.5 tonne and below have Electric Standby as standard which means that these can be plugged into a 13A domestic m.ains electricity supply whilst static. For Fridge vehicles of 7.5 tonne and above, the refrigeration is provided by a separate DIESEL engine which draws from the main vehicle diesel tank. Again however, in a static position these vehicles can also run on Electric Standby, but will require a 32A 3-phase industrial supply.

Q – Is the Fridge vehicle ATP Certified?
A – Yes, all our vehicles (irrespective of size) are built to this important FRC (class C) European standard. An ATP Certified refrigerated vehicle means that the vehicle has met European standard for the use in refrigerated transport of perishable produce
